March 27, 2015…M & J Wilkow, Ltd. is pleased to announce the acquisition of the iconic Gas Light Building, located at 626 East Wisconsin Avenue, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The historic, 20-story, Art Deco building was designed by the architectural firm of Eschweiler & Eschweiler and completed in 1930. The property offers 131,727 square feet to net rentable area and a six-story, 212 space parking garage. The Gas Light Building is famous in Milwaukee for its 21-foot weather beacon “flame” which forecasts the weather for the next day based on its color and flicker.
The Gas Light Building is currently 87% leased, with approximately 70% of the building occupied by the United States Forest Service. Plans are underway to add amenities, as well as to restore and enhance the beauty of this architecturally significant office tower, which occupies such a prominent place in Milwaukee’s skyline.
The Gas Light Building is managed by M & J Wilkow Properties, LLC, which has retained the local property management firm Wangard Partners to provide on-site services. Leasing service for vacant space will be provided by the local firm of NAI NLG Commercial.
