National Awards Program Showcases Shopping Center Industry’s Leading Events, Programs, and Technology

M & J Wilkow announced its recent win of a Gold Marketing Award for Excellence and Innovation (MAXI) in the category of Community, and three Silver Marketing Awards in the categories of Impact and Innovation.

The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) announced the winners of the 2019 U.S. MAXI Awards at RECon 2019, highlighting the retail real estate industry’s most innovative events, programs and technologies that add value to shopping centers and companies across the country.

M & J Wilkow and its partner BIG Shopping Centers earned a MAXI Gold Award in recognition of the community event “Bringing Light to the Darkness: Chanukah Festival” at The Waterfront Shopping Center in Homestead, Pennsylvania. The special Chanukah Festival helped to heal and spark hope, light and inspiration for the grieving but resilient Pittsburgh community.

The Waterfront Shopping Center also received a MAXI Silver Award for its digital influencer campaign “Paying It Forward: XO, KB.” The spirit of giving back to the community continued at The Waterfront Shopping Center through local TV personality, columnist and spokeswoman Kate Benz, who rewards visitors to the shopping center in monthly digital e-mail blasts, social media contests and live videos.

Two MAXI Silver Awards were also presented to M & J Wilkow. Lifestyle center Magnolia Park in Greenville, SC was recognized in the Impact category for its new branding campaign #AgreeOnMP. The mostly digital campaign created an identifiable brand through creative graphics that exemplify the myriad options available to visitors at the property.

Southlands, Colorado’s largest shopping destination, was awarded MAXI Silver in the Innovation category for its outstanding event program. Working closely with the local municipality, Southlands became the first shopping center in Colorado to offer a Common Consumption Area to improve the guest experience during outdoor events.
