203 N. LaSalle Street Awarded LEED® Green Building Certification
The 203 North LaSalle Street Office Building, Owned, Managed and Leased by M&J Wilkow, announced that it has been awarded LEED Existing Building Operations and Maintenance (EBOM) Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED is the USGBC’s leading rating system for operating and maintaining the world’s greenest, most energy efficient, and high performing buildings.
The 27-story building is a multi-use property consisting of Class A office space located on floors thirteen through twenty-seven, a 1,200 space parking garage located on floors three through twelve and a retail concourse located on the first two floors. The Office Tower was designed by the architectural firm of Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill and opened in 1986. A spectacular 12-story interior atrium fills the central portion of the office building and a second 4-story atrium spans floors 24 – 27. The atriums were designed to create a pleasant work environment by bringing in natural sunlight to interior office space, as well as providing tenants with lavishly landscaped terraces.
M&J Wilkow partnered with Wright Heerema Architects and Building Momentum Group to achieve LEED certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use as well as incorporating a variety of other sustainable strategies. LEED verifies environmental performance, occupant health and financial return. LEED was established for market leaders to design & construct buildings that protect and save precious resources while also making good economic sense.
The building demonstrated outstanding leadership through its high occupant use of public transportation systems, adoption of water efficiency and purchasing policies, as well as green cleaning strategies and healthy air quality practices. ENERGY STAR Certified with a score of 83, the building is a model of energy efficient operations and maintenance practices. Implementation of ongoing commissioning measures for mechanical systems show a continuing commitment to energy efficiency and sustainable operations.
