20 South Clark Street, Chicago, IL Earns EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Certification 

March 8, 2013 (Chicago, IL) 20 South Clark Street, owned by WIL-CAR Clark Street, LLC and managed by M & J Wilkow, Ltd. has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) ENERGY STAR certification, which signifies that the building performs in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency and meets strict energy efficiency performance levels set by the EPA.

“M & J Wilkow is pleased to accept EPA’s ENERGY STAR certification in recognition of our energy efficiency efforts,” said Martha Green, RPA, General Manager. “Through this achievement, we have demonstrated our commitment to environmental stewardship while also lowering our energy costs.”

Cyclone Energy Group, a Chicago-based energy services company, certified the building for ENERGY STAR.  Cyclone Energy Group has worked with 20 South Clark Street and M & J Wilkow since 2008 to help benchmark energy performance as well as plan and implement energy efficiency measures.  Since 2010, 20 South Clark Street has prevented greenhouse gas emissions equal to the electricity use from 12 households for a year.

To earn the ENERGY STAR, 20 South Clark Street in partnership with many of the building tenants took the following actions:

  • Lighting upgrades
  • Variable speeds drives on motors
  • Demand control ventilation for building air handlers

20 South Clark Street is a 30-story, 364,874 square foot, multi-tenant office building located in the heart of Chicago’s central business district.  In 2011, the building earned LEED Existing Building Operations & Maintenance (LEED-EBOM) Silver Certification.
